New Post Graduation Work Permit Extension Program Announced by IRCC
We have some great news to share with you! If you are an international student who has recently graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution, you may be eligible for an extension on your post-graduation work permit. The Canadian government announced on March 17, 2023, that eligible graduates can now receive an additional 18 months on their work permit. Those whose PGWPs have already expired in 2023 and those who were eligible for the 2022 PGWP facilitative measure will also have the opportunity to apply for an additional 18-month work permit.
What does this mean?
This extension is fantastic news for those who are looking to stay in Canada and gain valuable work experience that can be used toward their application for permanent residency. The extra time also allows graduates to network and gain more knowledge about their chosen field, which can be a huge asset when applying for future jobs. Additionally, with this new extension, graduates will have more time to plan their future in Canada, including exploring different immigration pathways that may be available to them.
