J.J. is originally from Edmonton, moving here to attend the University of Victoria, where he obtained his Juris Doctor in 2024. Before law school, J.J. worked in accounting.
During law school, J.J. won course awards in Secured Transactions and Indigenous Lands, Rights and Governance. He also supported first-year law students as a tutor through Uvic’s Amicus Program.
Prior to completing his articles with the firm, J.J. did summer placements with the provincial governments of B.C. and Alberta, in the areas of employment, trade and procurement, and aboriginal law.
J.J. is developing a general litigation practice, with a particular interest in construction, property, administrative, employment, tenancy and estate law. He has made submissions before the British Columbia Supreme and Provincial Courts and administrative tribunals such as the Residential Tenancy Branch, Human Rights Tribunal, Employment Standards Tribunal and the Office of Information and Privacy Commissioner.
