Thanh Phan

Thanh Phan is a Lawyer at Velletta Pedersen Christie in Victoria, BC. His practice focuses on business immigration, corporate, and employment law. Prior to his practice in BC, Thanh was a lawyer at a global law firm in Toronto where he supported multinational corporate clients in a wide variety of sectors, including information technology, management consulting, engineering, and food and agriculture.
Thanh assists clients with all corporate immigration requirements in Canada, including applications related to free trade agreements of which Canada is a signatory, intra-company transfers, Labour Market Impact Assessments, as well as process compliance and inadmissibility issues. He also has profound expertise in starting up innovative businesses in Canada, focusing on high-tech projects.
Thanh obtained a PhD degree in law from the University of Victoria. He is teaching as an adjunct professor for the Graduate Diploma in Immigration and Citizenship Law at Queen’s University and Engineering Law at the University of Victoria. He also taught Canadian Public and Constitutional Law at Osgoode Hall Law School. He also worked for the Government of Vietnam for more than 10 years as a legal officer and as a delegate, negotiating free trade agreements between Vietnam, the EU and the Eurasian Customs Union.
Thanh often provides pro bono services to the Vietnamese community in Canada and the Embassy of Vietnam to Canada.
