Business & Self-Employed Immigration Law

Start-up Visa

Those who have an innovative business idea may have a chance to immigrate to Canada if they have the skills and potential to build businesses in Canada that:

  • are innovative.
  • can create jobs for Canadians.
  • can compete on a global scale.

The applicants need support from one of the designated organizations before applying for permanent residence.

Lawyers at Velletta Pedersen Christie have experience in assisting clients with permanent residence applications under the start-up visa program. We also have profound experience in business and technology, which helps clients hone their business ideas and implement start-up projects.

Entrepreneur Immigration

Some provinces in Canada, including BC, provide international entrepreneurs with a chance to set up businesses that support innovation and economic growth in the province.

Each province sets up a specific set of requirements for the applicants and the businesses. An entrepreneur is generally required to prepare a business proposal that meets the requirements of the province. Depending on each province’s procedure, the entrepreneur will have to implement the business plan and obtain a work permit to manage the business. If the business meets the expectations prescribed by the province’s program, the entrepreneur will obtain a nomination, which will allow the entrepreneur to apply for permanent residence.
